Moving Home

Sometimes staying put in an existing home can become too difficult and you may need to consider moving home.

Advice and information about alternative housing options for older people is available from a range of organisations, including:

  • Elderly Accommodation Counsel

    • They provide information and advice by telephone, post and email plus printed leaflets and a website, including local housing options (sheltered housing, care homes, support services). Tel 020 7820 1343 www.housingcare.org

  • Help the Aged

    • Provides a 'Seniorline' service covering a full range of advice topics from welfare benefits to housing options. They also publish leaflets including 'Housing Matters'. Tel 0808 800 6565 www.helptheaged.org.uk

  • Age Concern England

    • Provides Information line covering a full range of advice topics from welfare benefits to housing options. They also publish Factsheets. Tel: 0800 009966 www.ageconcern.org.uk

  • Counsel and Care

    • Provides help and guidance for older people and their families, particularly those who are searching for care and support services. Tel 0845 300 7585 www.counselandcare.org.uk

There are a number of local 'Housing Options' Services being run by home improvement agencies and Age Concern groups.
