Presentations

If you are a member of an older people's action, group, someone who works with older people's groups, or a home improvement agency offering services to older people, the presentations and information materials in this section may be useful to you.

The idea behind the package is to enable older people to think about their housing in retirement, discuss with each other their housing situation, and learn about what they can do and what services may help them to look after their home and stay living independently.

The information brochures are all word documents that you may wish to adapt to add local information. They are in colour, but will print off in black and white too.

• Is Your Home Ready for Retirement - covers planning ahead for repairs and adaptations (2 pages)
• Stay put or move home - a summary of the main alternative housing options and list of factors to consider when thinking about moving home (4 pages)
• Useful information about Home Repairs and Emergencies - info sheet for people to fill in and keep by the phone (1 page)
• Improving bathing facilities in your own home - this is a self help guide to organising adaptations - you may wish to put in a local leaflet about this instead, or combine the two (5 pages).

There is also a related presentation for people who have not yet retired but who are approaching retirement. Most of the above leaflets can be used and there is also a 'card game' exercise to go with this
